Academics Whether it is a 4 year old learning what it means to be a part of a group, or a kindergartener learning the fundamentals of reading, or a sixth grade student gaining an understanding of what it takes to develop a research project, there are core learning principles that make the RTP Christian Academy of Technology education an academic experience of exceptional value. The principles that influence all learning experiences at RTPCAT involve: Moral and Ethical Development of SelfIn educating the whole child, it is imperative to provide students time for reflection, discussion, and activities that draw attention to moral and ethical development. This is done respecting family traditions and spiritual difference among each other. Traditional and Accelerated Methodologies Balanced with InnovationTraditional practices in education include tried and true methods that help students gain understanding of concepts. An accelerated curriculum helps to challenge students to move beyond their comfort zones. Innovative thinking and practices are expected. Cooperative LearningStudents learn how to be successful working cooperatively, enabling them to become more effective group members and deepening their understanding of content and process. Learning by DoingNot only is active learning more enjoyable for students, but it also increases understanding and retention of material. From projects to experiments, the “doing” is purposeful across the curriculum. LeadershipDeveloping leadership skills begins with our youngest students gaining independence and confidence and culminates with our sixth graders applying their leadership practices with fellow Trinity School students as well as prospective parents. Study SkillsIntentional time teaching study skills results in all students acquiring the skills necessary to become more effective learners, whether that is in organization, note taking, or research. Given multiple methods, students are guided to identify what works effectively for them. There is so much more to come, but for now, look at just a few of our success stories.
